In the incomparable landscape of the Lueneburg Heath with its numerous wildlife reserves you can find some special and rare animals. Most famous are of course the „Heidschnucken“ (German moorland sheep) that roam the heath every day and thus guarantee its preservation. They are a kind of heraldic animal of the Lueneburg Heath.
But there are also other animals to admire:
- a shining red dragonfly
- a cobalt blue kingfisher
- the black grouse
- the white stork
- the rare black stork
Please note: That not every species is to be found all year round in the Lueneburg Heath. The summer is the best time of the year to observe all species.
We also recommend a visit to the Wildpark Lüneburger Heide (wildlife park).
